Normally, when a man is sexually aroused, the arteries in the penis relax and widen. This allows more blood to flow into the tissues of penis. As the arteries in the penis expand and harden, the veins that carry blood away from the penis become compressed. This traps the blood in the penis. The erection goes away, once the sexual encounter is over. In case of an ED sufferer, improper functioning of the nerves or blood vessels associated with the erection process cause inability in getting or maintaining an erection. Kamagra, by its action, increases blood flow, which in turn leads to erection.
Kamagra is absorbed quickly into the bloodstream, with absorption moderately slowed when taken with a large, fatty meal, reducing the effectiveness. MECHANISM OF ACTION (continued): Sildenafil has no direct relaxant effect on isolated human corpus cavernosum but enhances the effect of NO (Nitric oxide) by inhibiting phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) which is responsible for degradation of cGMP in the corpus cavernosum. When sexual stimulation causes local release of NO, inhibition of PDE5 by Sildenafil causes increased levels of cGMP in the corpus cavernosum resulting in smooth muscle relaxation and inflow of blood to the corpus.
Basically sildenafil relaxes the blood vessels in the penis, allowing more blood to enter, and thus to achieve and maintain an erection.
